Federal court allows redistricting case brought by Democrats to move forward

This past week, the federal courts agreed to move forward with a redistricting case.

“A panel of three federal judges on Thursday rejected a request from Republicans to dismiss redistricting litigation filed by Democrats, allowing a federal case to continue as lawmakers work to draft political maps that will be used for the next decade.” starts the article that was written by the Wisconsin State Journal.

These cases have been brought forward thanks to the effort of advocacy groups such as Black Leaders Organizing for Communities, Voces de La Frontera, and the League of Women Voters.

This lawsuit asks the court to get rid of the current Wisconsin districting maps and draw ones that are fairer for all of Wisconsin. As the drawing of the new maps gets closer and closer, these sorts of cases to hold the state accountable are important.
